The Women of New Jersey is an African-American service organization of business and professional women whose primary mission is to recognize and support students with documented learning differences who have demonstrated perseverance and commitment to achievement.
The Women of New Jersey will provide financial support to these students pursuing post-secondary goals in furthering their educational aspirations through the Women of Essex Student Aid Fund.
Our goal is to increase the candidate pool of students from our community who are prepared to thrive in our global society. As such, we will award scholarships in three categories to students who have a documented learning difference and acceptance into a post-high school training program including but not limited to vocational school, community college, and four-year college or universities to name a few.
Additionally, we support worthwhile academic and cultural enrichment programs for the youth of the communities we serve. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable not-for-profit organization.
GIDEON AWARDS
The GIDEON AWARDS is an annual ritual and an “open” recognition ceremony to bestow honor upon students with documented learning difference who have demonstrated perseverance and commitment to achievement. Students must be graduates of Essex or Union County public, private, charter, parochial, magnet, or vocational high schools.
